The Cavie Islanders and the Troll

Press Release
The Cavie Islanders and the Troll -
A new children´s musical featuring the music & lyrics of Jim Camacho

Miami, FL April 26, 2010: A new original children´s musical, "The Cavie Islanders and the Troll", will be making its world premiere on May 15th – 16th at the Mandelstam Theatre in South Miami. The production is in association with South Miami Gymnastics and features Carbonell Award Winner, Ken Clement, with a cast of 19 children between the ages of 8-12. Miami´s own Jim Camacho penned all original music and lyrics for this musical. "The Cavie Islanders and the Troll" is a musical about the Cavie Islanders´ journey (over the bridge) showing that harmony is possible even when differences are really scary.

While multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter Jim Camacho is currently promoting his recently released CDs, "Beachfront Defeat" and "Hail Mary", this is his third venture into musical theatre. Jim´s rock musical "Fools´ Paradise" premiered in Miami in 2004, went on to successful shows at the Peoples Improv Theater in New York City in 2006, and was work-shopped in Miami in 2008. More recently, Jim´s rock opera "Guru" was debuted in Miami last year and a CD of "Guru" is in the works. Presently, Jim is scoring and writing songs for Phillip Church´s adaptation of Shakespeare´s Hamlet, a cinematic-theater production debuting at the Adrienne Arsht Center this fall.

Tickets for "The Cavie Islanders and the Troll" can be purchased online for $15. There are a limited number of tickets available. For more info or to purchase tickets please visit www.cavieislanders.com. Mandelstam Dance Theater is located at 8530 SW 57th Ave. Miami FL 33143. Phone: 305-662-2736.
